The Discussion Guide is designed to invite conversation about the film’s key themes and issues, and to help viewers address their own personal responses to the film. It is intended for use with a variety of audiences participating in an assortment of educational formats—from facilitated group conversations to university classroom seminars to professional skill development workshops.

To supplement the guide, we have developed a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) with answers written by the directors and the three main characters in the film: Grace, Fu, and Sabrina. The FAQs are gathered from screenings of the film with a variety of audiences and provide viewers with background and supplemental information about the filmmaking and the many layers of the story that are not included in the film.

For medical audiences, Grace’s full medical case history is also available, with extensive information about her injuries, hospitalizations and medical care.
